Giro Animas Helmet

Giro Animas HelmetI completely understand the fact that most bike helmets look absolutely ridiculous. I totally get it, and I have to deal with it just like everybody else. If you are looking for a way to protect your noodle and look stylish doing it, the Giro Animas Helmet is the armor for you. First off, this is a super light weight mean looking design so you will never have to worry about having a heavy load strapped to your head, it also incorporates 4 straps (vertical and horizontal) to get the best fit possible. With large gaps for ventilation, the Giro uses various types of internal reinforcements to make sure that after a potential spill, your insides will stay on the inside. It also has an adjustable/removable visor for a perfect line of site, and it comes in medium or large with your choice of a black or white-gunmetal color. Safety no longer means looking like a fool, if you are riding with the Giro Animas Helmet.

Cooper Cooler

Cooper CoolerOn a hot sticky summer day, there is nothing worse than reaching for a cool, refreshing beverage, and finding the can warm to the touch. The best way to chill your drink (and in turn your body), is with The Cooper Cooler. This stainless steel appliance needs only a bit of additional ice, some water, and to be plugged in for instantaneous cold drinks. Go from luke warm to refreshingly ice cold cans of soda, beer, water, etc in literally 1 minutes time. The patented technology will spin the can around the super chilled cooler interior, and will cool a drink down 40x faster than a conventional freezer. There is even a no spin option for fine wines and other liquids which may be considered “fragile”, yet regardless of what is put in, no extra foaming or exploding will occur to carbonated drinks when opened! Also including a car outlet for cool drinks on the road, the 6 lb. Cooper Cooler will ensure you have the coldest drinks at the hottest picnics.

Nike Wildedge

Nike Wildedge

Going street or trail running nowadays takes a bit more than using your old pair of chucks. For comfort and support, the new Nike Wildedge gives you ideal reaction to any surface, and keeps feet ready to go that extra mile. The Nike Wildedge is an ultra light weight shoe which incorporates both a synthetic leather upper and natural fibers, creating a nice and breathable shell. Adding to its durability and foot protection, there are rubber heel and toe bumpers specifically designed to give feet a little extra cushion in case you are running on shaky/uneven ground. With a land rover mentality, the Wildedge also uses a “.4 sticky rubber” outsole in order to maximize traction on any substrate (including wet areas), and an air-sole to absorb shock. Offered in 2 distinct colors (a 2 tone design) these new running sneakers by Nike can even be worn for their good looks and charm! This pair is a perfect idea as a Father’s Day present, or you can just buy them for yourself for some personal foot comfort and exercise.

Father’s Day Shopping For The Father Who Wants Zero

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008

I don’t think my Dad has ever answered this question in his entire life. Normally I get the “I just want to be left alone to relax” routine mixed with the occasional “You know what I really want ….(pause for dramatic results) Nothing” bit. Oh yeah then there is the “It’s O.K I’d rather you save your money”. Overall, these answers are absolutely fine by me. Hey, if you want nothing Dad, you will get NOTHING. Ask and ye shall receive! Not having to go out and shop is much easier on my own R&R schedule not to mention my wallet, so thanks for the get out of jail free card. But lets be real, no Dad wants nothing, and the days of buying unnecessary ties have turned into days of buying unnecessary DVD’s that he will never watch, or books that will at best make it to his bathroom library.

So what do you get for the Father Who Wants 0? If there is one thing I have learned over time is that most men and all Dad’s enjoy a practical, USEFUL gift. Why else would they ask for a day off from the phone ringing, or from Mom complaining about people walking with shoes on the good carpet. Good luck trying to wrap that present (I can see it now, “umm mom can you not only stop nagging but also would you mind wearing this bow on your head?”). I digress, but the fact is Father’s Day is coming around the corner and you need to come up with something good, and fast.

My recommendation is to go with something you know he will need, not necessarily something you think he will want. Take for example a Thule or Yakima car rack and/or rooftop cargo box for easy storage of bikes or camping items. You know what type of Dad you have, so if he is into outdoorsy activities then this is really an ideal solution for you, and him. Maybe your Dad is more handy and needs a new set of Stanley Tools for some home improvements. I don’t know about you, but I don’t know any dad who enjoys saying “Ugh sorry honey, I umm ugh just don’t have the right tools for the job”. This does not make for a feel good situation. O.k so we have got car equipment, tools, maybe some nice Oakley’s will do the trick, or maybe some certified pre owned golf clubs by Callaway will be the gift of choice this Father’s Day. The fact is, there are many options out there that are within your economic reach AND will not wind up just collecting dust somewhere. So the only question left now is, what is your response going to be when your father asks for zero.

Sony Playstation 3

Sony Playstation 3

Although the coolness that is the Sony Playstation 3 has been on the shelves for a bit of time, the exceptional gaming and unique incorporation of various media still keeps me more than impressed. Outside of the 80GB of storage, the PS3 is a marvel of the gaming system world. Acting as both a gaming console and a home multimedia entertainment center is really how the Playstation 3 really makes its stand. Incorporating HDMI (high def multimedia interface) ports to compatible HD TV’s and projectors, the system will throw uncompressed digital sound and HD 1080p picture in right in your face. The new generation Sony Playstation of course also has a built in Blu-ray disc player and actually encodes games onto blu-ray discs making them hold 6x the capacity of old games. This may sound like biting of more than a system can chew except for the fact that PS3 uses IBM’s “Cell” processor and Nvidia graphics card to process only 2 trillion calculations a second. System and picture quality aside, the wireless controllers can sense even the most delicate motion of your hand for extreme game play, so its not just going to be your thumbs to the rescue anymore. With a sleek new design and a great variety of new games (you can play the old ones too), the new Playstation 3 is will be the most cutting edge gaming console for the next few years…

Amazon Kindle

The Amazon Kindle is one of the latest and greatest ways to carry 200 of your favorite books wherever you go. As a recent addition to the E-book technology wave, the Amazon Kindle is an extremely light weight (10.3 oz.) device with a crystal clear “electronic paper” display for simple reading, even in bright sunlight. Using the code of simplicity and accessibility, the Kindle is a very intuitive system which offers high speed connections and downloads to books (including new releases), book samples, blogs, prominent newspapers, and more. Access to various electronic periodicals (which are continuously updated)are easier than ever with the EVDO high speed data network by your side. This fast passed network allows you to download without any need for a computer or “wi-fi hot spots”, and it will do this without any type of subscription or monthly fee. The Amazon Kindle will give you about 2 full days of read time without needing a recharge, however it only takes a minimal 2 hours to boost this e-book device to 100%. It also has a nice size storage and memory card slot in case you want to really push the limits of your e-book library. With many more significant features, and the easy (and highly discounted price) of new titles and periodicals, the Amazon Kindle is a great way to take your library on the go.
