Philadelphia Phillies World Series Apparel

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

It is already Monday and yet Philadelphia is still brimming with Phillies fans. Friday’s parade was an absolute explosion of millions of people dressed in various red and white, yet many did not have their hands on the some Philadelphia Phillies World Series Apparel. One of my favorite pieces is the Majestic Men’s MLB World Series 08 Champs Roster T shirt, which has every member on the team right on the back. All red with a design of Citizens Bank Park on the front and back (with World Series Champions on the chest), this is a great T-shirt to wear under a hoody, or over a long sleeve shirt for those colder days. The ESPN Shop currently has this T as well as various hoody’s, T-shirts, hats, and various other pieces of World Series apparel and memorabilia. If you are a Phillies fan, you need to get your hands on this type of celebratory apparel as it makes for a great gift idea!

Philadelphia Phillies Win The World Series

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

What could have been thought of as a curse, a string of bad luck, bad management, bad players, bad timing, has all come to a halt! Finally the Philadelphia Phillies Win the World Series after 28 long years of waiting and playing ball! The 2008 World Series Championship of baseball comes to Philadelphia with open arms and has been the first championship in the area since 1983. Due largely to World Series MVP Pitcher Cole Hamel’s performance on the mound, as well as the entire teams hard work and efforts, Philadelphia finally gets to take one home. The parade is scheduled to begin Friday at 12:00 pm and will probably be the largest gathering of Philadelphians (and others from the tri-state area) in the history of the state. If you are looking to show your Phillies support with World Series apparel, check out what either Dicks Sporting Goods or the ESPN Shop has to offer. There you will find great Phillies World Series cold weather apparel like hoody’s game day sweatshirts, knit hats, and much more. If you are going to the parade, maybe I will see you there!

Philadelphia Phillies World Series

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

It is official that the Philadelphia Phillies will be continuing game 5 of the World Series tonight against the Tampa Bay Rays. What started of as an unprecedented World Series rain delay has turned into one of the biggest 3.5 innings ever played in a potentially final Championship game. Scheduled for tonight at 8:29 EST (with a game tied at 2-2), it is still undetermined who will be pitching for each side. Tampa Bay must use their best from the bullpen as there may not be a tomorrow, while the Phillies may either use the Madson/Lidge combo or look to someone else for the first part of the game. Regardless it may seem as the Phillies do have an advantage tonight as they have 12 outs to work with as opposed to the Rays who only have 9, plus cold weather conditions that the Rays may not be used too. Either way I think we can expect to see a great crowd both at the stadium and throughout the tri state area. If you are looking to support the Phillies in their victory, check out the ESPN Shop for some great cold weather Phillies apparel.

World Series Game 5 Delay

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

Due to an unprecedented (yet foreseeable) weather condition, the Philadelphia Phillies World Series Game 5 was postponed after only 5 and a half innings. Initially the Phills looked great with a two run lead that is until some wet follies by Jimmy Rollins allowed the Rays some base runners in scoring position. It was only after the game was tied at 2 did the umpires decide conditions were too extreme to have fair game play. After 403 World Series games played (started since 1903), this was the first game ever in history to be called for a rain delay. It just so happens to be a situation where the Philadelphia Phillies could have clinched, done it at home, and in exactly 5 games, with ace pitcher Cole Hamels on the mound. I am not a superstitious person, but I believe the curse of Billy Pen is real, and in full force. Meanwhile commissioner of baseball Bud Selig was going to resume the game tonight, however from the looks of it outside I just don’t see how that is going to be possible. Another tremendously sad day for Philadelphia and their sports teams, if you still want to show a little bit of Phillies love, check out some great Phillies apparel (and other official MLB gear) at the ESPN Shop. Hopefully one of those Phillies fleece hoodies will warm you up after last night’s debacle. This situation is truly beyond belief.

Phillies World Series Game 5

Monday, October 27th, 2008

In almost a clean sweep, the Philadelphia Phillies may just be entering into the history books tonight by winning their first championship since 1980. After a solid 10-2 victory last night it seems that Ryan Howard has officially gotten the monkey off his back by hitting 2 homeruns for 5 RBI’s, and even pitcher Joe Blanton went yard for his first career homerun. With the strangle hold over Tampa Bay, the Philadelphia Phillies look like they will be winning the World Series in game 5 (as I predicted during the NLDS), and is looking to ace pitcher Cole Hamels to shut the door. With Hamels on the mound followed by a potential lethal combination of Madson and Lidge, it seems like this World Series is all but over! If you were looking to get some great team apparel, I would either look to the ESPN Shop or Dicks Sporting Goods for some cool weather Phillies gear. Of course you may want to wait an extra day so you can by some Phillies apparel with WORLD CHAMPIONS written across the chest!

Phillies National League Champions

Thursday, October 16th, 2008

In a beautiful victory last night, the Philadelphia Phillies are now the National League Champions! Beating out the Dodgers 5-1 (4-1 in the series overall), it was none other than J-Roll who led the game off with a solo shot in right center field on a 3-2 count. Can we say bye-bye Fastball? This was only the first of many hits for the Phill’s, and with the aid of star pitcher Cole Hamels, the team was able to control the game from the very first at bat. Now for the first time in 15 long years, the Philadelphia Phillies get to play in the World Series, and will most likely be playing the Tampa Bay Rays for the coveted World Series Ring. Looks to me like Charlie Manuel has got this team well greased, prepped, and ready to look towards their next and final 7 game series starting this upcoming Wednesday! If you want to support your Philly team, check out the great cool weather Phillies MLB sports apparel at the Espn shop.

Brett Favre Jets Jersey

Friday, October 3rd, 2008

For those of you out there who thought Brett Favre was a wash up, I really hope you got to watch last week’s game against the Cardinals. Was it something in the water, perhaps it was the throwback uniforms? Whichever the case may be, Brett went on to throw 6 T.D passes (happens to be a career high) with 1 pick, to win Jets 56-Cardinals 35. This was the 2nd most points the Jets ever scored in franchise history, as they were able to force 7 (yes 7) Arizona turnovers. Overall Brett Favre went 24/34 for 289 yards, 6 good in the end-zone, and only 1 pick. If this does not tell you to go out and grab a Brett Favre Jets Jersey I don’t know what will. Luckily for the boys in green (though this week more blueish), they are headed into the Bye for a little R&R but will be playing Carson Palmer and the Cincinnati Bengals come week 6. If you are a Brett Favre fan, check out the ESPN Shop for some great NFL apparel.

Redskins at Texas Stadium

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

The funny thing about Dallas Cowboy wide receiver Terrell Owens, is his ability to help stir up trouble even when he is quiet. Now for those of you who did not see the Redskins at Texas Stadium this past Sunday (Skins 26, Cowboys 24), you should be glad to know that running back Rock Cartwright decided to pull out a little dance number right on top of the mid field Cowboys Star. Sound familiar to anyone else?? Yes, although T.O pretty much invented that move, it didn’t stop Dallas D-Tackle Tank Johnson from getting heated and then restrained before he was able to remove Rock from his feet. Apparently Tank Johnson believes that this type of celebration should be considered low class and wanted to “discuss” that with Cartwright. Oddly, I don’t remember Tank getting as annoyed when T.O pulled out a little two-step only a season ago. As an Eagles fan with an innate hatred of Dallas, I like the move by Tank Johnson a lot. In fact maybe they will get aggravated enough to blow the rest of the season. This will be the Dallas Cowboys last season at Texas Stadium, as they will be upgrading to the billion-dollar field that will have another star at the 50. Maybe someone else will be able to throw down a little break dance number and destroy the Cowboys next season too.

Eagles Sunday Night Football

Monday, September 29th, 2008

I watched the game, I listened to the post game live, I read the sports section the morning after, and yet I still don’t understand what happened last night during the Eagles Sunday Night Football game. What is wrong with this team? As the season is long, I understand why no. 36 Brian Westbrook was sitting out. But to not be able to score a T.D within inches of the goal line after consecutive efforts is just inexcusable. Was it the play calling, or the execution, or just dumb luck on the Bears D-line side? Your guess is as good as mine. What really pains me is to see the Eagles defense force Kyle Orton (Bears QB) into 4 turnovers, and remove any first downs from roughly the first 20 minutes of the 2nd half by the Bears offense. Yet, despite Orton’s best efforts to give the game away, the Chicago Bears kept the lead the entire time and won 24-20. This is troubling to say the least. As a die-hard Eagles fan I am still willing to bleed green, and wear green. However, after this debacle I may want to wear something with a number that shows off a bit of talent. The ESPN Shop is currently offering a Randall Cunningham Field Legends T-Shirt. Perfect for those days when the Birds need a reminder of what playing well means, this is a highly comfortable cotton T-shirt to show the Eagles a full seasons worth of support.

MLB NL East Standings

Friday, September 26th, 2008

I just don’t know why year after the year the Phillies need to make me so anxious. Yet again the race for the playoff spot in the NL East is going to go down to the last weekend of game play, and the Phills are now only 1 game up. 1 week ago the Phillies had a commanding 3.5 game lead over the Mets and just like that the red pin stripes are just holding on to the play off spot. This weekend the Phills have a series against the Washington Nationals, who at this point at their failed season could be nothing more then a spoiler for the Philadelphia team. The MLB NL East Standings (as of this afternoon) goes: Phillies 89-70, Mets, 88-71, Marlins 82-76, and well it doesn’t even much matter about the Braves or the Nationals. I am also pleased to announce that the Yankees will not be making the playoffs this year, so Boo Hoo for all the N.Y fans. What the Phillies need right now is to take one game at a time and win, win, win as much as possible. Regardless of what team you are routing for, show some support with some great MLB apparel.
