Lightweight, Cordless, Bagless, what else do you need in terms of a perfect vacuum? The Dirt Devil Bagless Cordless Stick Vacuum is the ideal way to lift up dust, dirt (and who knows what else), off of that dingy dorm room floor. With 15.6V of power, this stick vac will easily attack bare floors and carpets and put all the grim into a simple to remove pour out container. This means no more bags to buy or replace! Another great feature of this Dirt Devil is that it has a folding handle for quick and easy storage. This is crucial for students who have less than adequate living spaces to begin with, plus the cordless nature of the vac makes tripping pretty much impossible. The Dirt Devil Bagless Cordless Stick Vac has passed ENERGY STAR compliances for energy efficiency, and will give you a 9.5” cleaning path for a great range of suction power. If and when the vac gets low on juice, it’s really no worries. Simply attach it to the included charging stand (on off), take a nap for a few hours, and use when necessary. Don’t let your dorm room become a haven for dead bugs, dirt, and grime!

For an ideal base layer or stand alone article of fall season apparel, there is not much better on the market then a piece of GoLite Clothing. Offered in both Men’s and women’s cuts, this particular Golite long sleeve shirt is sold in a multitude of colors and is meant specifically for active performance. Created from The Cocona fabric (polyester which is environmentally safe), the layers of cloth uses activated carbon from discarded coconut shells allowing it to have an SPF rating of +50. Because of its origins, this very special material will keep the user dry, and smell free regardless of how many times the clothing is used. This is thanks to the activated coconut carbon which will never wash out and actually helps to wick away moisture 50% faster than the leading polyester material. Washing instructions are pretty easy for GoLite Clothing. Basically just rinse under water or throw in the dryer in order to remove any type of dirt or sweat residue. Given the Green Gear of the Year Award in 2007, Golite cloth will keep you warm when it’s cool, cool when it’s warm, and smell free when you really need to be.

In many cases, students will be attending Colleges and Universities for the first time while living in a dorm room with a complete stranger. While some are O.K with this idea, I personally have some trust issues when surrounded with many people I do not know, especially in a small dorm environment. In order to keep private and valuable possessions safe, I recommend purchasing a Sentry Safe Fire Safe Waterproof Security Chest. Highly durable and compact (perfect for dorm room sizes), this key safe lock box is proven effective in fires with a UL rating of up to 1 hour and will prevent any moisture from damaging important documentation. The safe includes a tubular lock key which will remove any thoughts of tampering, and is over 40lbs. in weight to guarantee no one will walk off with it without notice. The interior is roughly 13(w) x 9.5(D) x 7.5(h) so you know the Sentry will be able to fit a variety of documents, valuables, and other personal belongings. Overall a Sentry Safe Security Chest is a great idea for any student wishing to keep their belongings/valuables under constant supervision.

Every day, more and more high end TV’s are being sold at affordable rates. Currently Best Buy is offering a great Dynex 42″ 720p Plasma HDTV for only $749.99. I would not expect for these plasma TV’s to be in stock much longer, after all it only has a 30,000:1 contrast ratio for picture quality that will blow your mind away! The 16:9 wide screen aspect ratio is able to be viewed in 4 different modes while the 20 Watts of SRS TruSurround/Dolby Digital sound will deliver crisp audio regardless of volume level. There is also a very specific 3:2 cinema processor which helps compensate for any variance(i.e differences in frames shot per second), in order to always get the smoothest quality picture. The Dynex plasma incorporates 3 HDMI inputs for an unsurpassed HD audio/visual experience AND a PC video input in order to view your fav pics in high def quality. For family purposes, the Dynex 42″ Plasma TV also includes a V chip to prevent children from watching adult material. However if you are single and going back to college, this is a very affordable plasma TV to make the perfect touch for any new apartment.

With the amount of music, movies, pictures, word docs, and software that is floating around, students are running out of hard drive space faster than ever before on their college PC. In order to “uncramp” the computers style, it is a great idea to purchase a Western Digital 320GB Portable Hard Drive. This My Passport Essential Hard Drive is no bigger then a set of keys and only weighs a few ounces, yet is the perfect option for storage/backing up your entire system. We all know what it feels like to watch our computer (and all of our precious data) crash away to computer heaven, it is a less then pleasant experience. Compact and super light, the Western Digital makes it extremely easy to use as there is no CD software to install. Just plus in the hard drive using the included USB 2.0 cable and any software necessary will automatically load from the drive itself. Another nice little feature of the Western Digital 320GB Portable Hard drive, is that the drive is powered by the USB bus, which means no other separate power supply is necessary. This portable hard drive is perfect for any student or PC owner who needs quality storage space at a great price.

There may be modifications, updates, tweaks, and versions, but everyone knows nothing beats an original. To get back to the roots, Adidas Originals Universal editions are back in town. Offered in 5 distinct colors (my fav being the all white withe rave red, indigo, and white alternating stripes), these shoes are a complete throw back to the Adidas sneaker that was first introduced back in 1972. For comfort, these shoes offer a particular padding for heel/Achilles support and are constructed of an all leather upper to keep feet cool and dry. Each shoe is only at a mere 10oz., so you know the Adidas Universals will never weigh you down, and each incorporates 3 “zone sole units” for superior traction. With the multiple color schemes and a suede patch at the toe for some bonus style points, the Adidas Originals are second to none. These shoes are a great way to start off the new school year.

Outfitting your dorm room may prove to be a more difficult task then you had originally thought. Posters are fun and easy approach, but they will only go so far when decorating the dorm as they only help with walls. In short, no one wants their place to look like a Dr.’s office with the standard college dingy lighting and lame carpet (if you were lucky enough to even get carpet!). If you are interested in actually making a dorm room fun and livable, look to Kohls over the next few days.Currently Kohl’s is offering a great Back to School Sale with savings up to 40%-50% off Student Lounge Dorm Furniture and Decor! Mini mini mini is the key when it comes to purchasing Dorm Room Size Appliances. If you are a freshman, you really can not appreciate yet how small a dorm room truly is. Seeing one in a college brochure/tour is not exactly the same as living in one with another person, and watching every cubic inch of surface area slowly vanish as furniture, back to school computers, and appliances keep stacking up. Regardless, you will still need to have a mini fridge and mini microwave for your dorm. The school dining plan may be good but trust me when I say that dorm life is full of eating, and snacking, and munching, and drinking (soda of course), hence the term gaining “The Freshman 15″. That being said, Circuit City has a great selection of Haier Mini Fridges (from 1.7 cu.ft.-4.5 cu. ft.) with both a fridge and freezer compartment, as well as mini microwaves for all of those late night hunger strikes! Remember that every inch in a dorm room counts, so be sure to check out every type of Dorm Room Size Appliances Circuit City has to offer.

A great source to find all of your New and Used Textbooks is through Amazon.com. No one makes it easier to find the hardback copy you need, and for the best value! We all know that students (especially in college) are completely broke, so going through Amazon will save you up to a 30% on all new textbooks with over 100,000 books in inventory. Buying used textbooks will save you even further will a possible and up to 90% savings on millions of listings. I’ve seen reduced prices of nice tv’s before, but the offer CompUSA is making on their LG LCD HDTV is pretty much the best I have seen up to date. As of today (8/6) this full HD 1080p TV is being sold for a drastically reduced $1379.99 (from the original $1,999.99) and with FREE SHIPPING. So here are the much wanted specs…. We all know that with a nice TV, you are going to have guests just “accidentally” dropping by. In order to accommodate, the 47″ LG TV has a 178deg. viewing angle so that all can enjoy the 8000:1 contrast ratio and 1920 x 1080 overall resolution. The TV also uses Super IPS tech to help limit any type of blurriness or distortion caused by fast action sequences (such as car chases or sports). To enjoy the sound quality and picture in various ways, the LG LCD HDTV also has a port for a USB/Flash Drive in order to play Mp3’s and to showcase picture galleries. Overall this is an extremely great TV for the cost, and it will look good in any persons home, or new students apartment.

In today’s world, students need unlimited access to their docs, tunes, and various other types of media. The best way to keep this info handy (aside from having to carry a laptop around), is with a solid state Kingston 8GB Flash Drive. The 8GB Data Traveler USB has enough storage for any student, and is a highly convenient way to keep info close to the chest. 100% tested for reliability, the Data Traveler is no bigger than a pocket knife, yet will be able to hold mass amounts of storage and cross both Mac and PC platforms. With the package comes the flash drive itself, along with simple to read instructions. However if the instruction manual doesn’t work, free technical support is available for those out there who find simple clicking and dragging a bit of a difficulty! The Kingston 8GB Flash Drive is “backwards compatible” for yesterday’s computers, and it is extremely easy to format and encrypt for potential sensitive data.

If you are a “green minded” individual, there is no better way to show it then by using Seventh Generation Products. Environmentally conscious, this company offers a wide variety of household goods that are extremely Earth friendly. Take the 2-ply paper towels for example, which consist of 100% recycled paper and are whitened with an environmentally sound process (and safe for compost). If you have a little one, you can always use the Chlorine free baby diapers, completely not toxic/not abrasive for a babies sensitive skin. Adults may of course prefer the fully recycled hypo allergenic toilet tissue, which has no color or fragrance additives, and is even safe for low flow toilets. Seventh Generation does not stop at recycled paper goods. They also offer household cleaning supplies such as liquid dish and laundry detergents, baby wipes, trash bags, all-purpose cleaners, and many other products which are created by natural, efficient, and healthy means.
