Magellan Maestro 3200 GPS System

Friday, September 12th, 2008

In a navigational sense, I guess you could say that my sense of direction would not allow me to find the way out of a paper bag. I should be somewhat frustrated with this circumstance, however I keep telling myself that I come by my lack of directional skills honestly (achem MOM). In order for me to get to point A to B, I have to use the Magellan Maestro 3200 GPS System. Extremely affordable (with a current discount at Best Buy), the Magellan uses a 3.5” wide screen display that is touch screen and easily viewable. Using a highly intuitive interface, even people who are not the most technologically advanced are able to touch their way to maps spanning across the U.S, Puerto Rico, and Hawaii. Using the “TrueView” option, the Magellan Maestro will even supply a pop up visual of an upcoming turn or a 3-D birds eye map view of your location. The backlight will even dim or grow in strength as day light increases/decreases in order to ensure a highly visible map. With many other cool GPS abilities, the Magellan Maestro includes mounting hardware, power adapter, and CD-ROM in order to get you moving in the right direction.

Vornado 3 Speed Fan

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

Speaking from experience, every Dorm Room needs a fan. Most dorms/apartments come with an air conditioning unit, but with all the food, dirty laundry, and heat that builds up, you should look into a Vornado 3 Speed Fan for air circulation. An extremely compact fan, the Vornado measures at 12” x 8.80” x 13.60” so that it can easily rest on a desk (or floor) without taking up necessary workspace. As a 3-speed fan, you are able to control both the amount of air circulation, and the direction of airflow by adjusting the fan blade head. As a high performance unit, the Vornado fan uses vortex technology in order to fully circulate the air in whichever room it is placed. It will even circulate air in a room up to a surprising 70 ft, and I don’t know any dorm room that large! Oddly, as powerful as this compact fan is, it works wonders while remaining whisper quiet for potential student study sessions. Plus as a further sign of quality and assurance, Vornado even gives this fan a 5-year warranty-even though it will far out last the time constraint.

8 GB Kingston Data Traveler

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

Data is not a stationary object. In fact, students today are especially in need of mobile devices which will carry their important documents, tunes, and pictures all over campus. Why bother with cumbersome folders and portfolios when you can store all data on a 8 GB Kingston Data Traveler. This ideal solution is about the size of a pen knife and only .08 oz. You would think something this small and light would be susceptible to breaking however the Kingston flash drive is backed by a nice 5 year warranty and the connector is retractable, so there is not even a worry about loosing/breaking the cap. The 8 GB data traveler is compatible with both old and new Mac and Windows operating systems, and the USB 2.0 connection is backwards compatible for older computers as well. The flash memory can easily formated to encrypt sensitive data, and it utilizes a rear bar in order to be attatched to a lanyard or keychain. Overall, the Kingston data traveler is a high yielding memory tool which will give the same performance of pricier flash drives of the same kind.

8 GB Kingston Flash Drives are available at a great many online locations. Check these stores for the most discounted price.

Peanuts Back to School Lunchbox

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

I have always been a true fan of Charlie Brown and the whole Peanuts gang. Oddly enough, my father’s nickname is Snoopy, so I guess you could say the name has always had some extra meaning to me. To take my love of this character even further, it was also the name I gave to my first guinea pig. What can I say, Charlie Brown and his best four legged friend are one of the coolest couple around. To celebrate them, I like to keep them close with me on a daily basis, with my Peanuts Back to School Lunchbox. This nostalgic cartoon lunchbox comes with a great thermos bottle, and both display a a fun 60’s-70’s style feel. The Peanuts Lunchbox is made out of high quality metal, and makes for a a perfect cartoon collectible! With such lovely cartoon characters as guards, they help keep food fresh while at the same time acts as a great tree saver (i.e no more paper bag lunches!). You know home made food tastes better, saves you money, and tends to be healthier anyway. Become a little kid again, and automatically increase your hip factor just with a few Peanuts!

You can find the Peanuts Back to School Lunchbox on various sites, like:

Magellan Maestro 3200

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

MaestroWith all the GPS systems on the market, it is hard to differentiate between which product is the best for the buck, which may have the most options you are looking for, which is the sleekest, etc. Personally, I like the Magellan Maestro 3200 because it is extremely compact and easy to use. Nothing beats a highly intuitive interface with a crystal clear 3.5” QVGA color touch-screen display. The Magellan offers maps to cover the continental U.S as well as Puerto Rico and Hawaii and does so with either a 3-D birds eye view, standard map view, or turn by turn instructions. Clearly you may know where you want to go, but may not be able to spell it. This is really no problem considering the included QuickSpell technology which checks/corrects spellings of addresses and locations. The Maestro 3000 will also automatically adjust the back light brightness depending on the time of day, as well as give you 3 hours of run time when not plugged in. With various mounting accessories, computer software, and power adapter included, this is a great package for any person who needs an easy to use GPS for all multiple traveling needs.

Men’s All-Around Gymnastics

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

To no one’s surprise, Yang Wei has realized the gold late last night (around 1:30 EST) in Men’s All-Around Gymnastics for China. Bringing the country to the top of the leader board in both overall medals (35) and gold medals (22), Wei scored an impressive 94.575 points in a multitude of events beating out Silver Medalist Uchimura Kohei of Japan by over 2.5 points. Rounding up for Bronze was 28 year old Benoit Caranobe of France, who was the first since 1920 to bring home a medal in an All-Around event. Wei, known prior as the “silver collector”, ranked Silver in this event during the 2000 Sydney Olympics against Alexei Nemov, as well as a second place score against Paul Hamm during the 2003 World Championships. Needless to say, this was an impressively solid win by Wei, which is easily going to elevate him to one of China’s most brilliant All-Around Gymnasts. With complete command over a variety of difficult skills ranging from floor exercise, parallel bars, rings, pommel horse, high bar, and vault, Wei was able to bring a second Men’s Over-All gold to china since Li Xiashuang in the 1996 Atlanta games.

GoLite Clothing

Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

goliteFor an ideal base layer or stand alone article of fall season apparel, there is not much better on the market then a piece of GoLite Clothing. Offered in both Men’s and women’s cuts, this particular Golite long sleeve shirt is sold in a multitude of colors and is meant specifically for active performance. Created from The Cocona fabric (polyester which is environmentally safe), the layers of cloth uses activated carbon from discarded coconut shells allowing it to have an SPF rating of +50. Because of its origins, this very special material will keep the user dry, and smell free regardless of how many times the clothing is used. This is thanks to the activated coconut carbon which will never wash out and actually helps to wick away moisture 50% faster than the leading polyester material. Washing instructions are pretty easy for GoLite Clothing. Basically just rinse under water or throw in the dryer in order to remove any type of dirt or sweat residue. Given the Green Gear of the Year Award in 2007, Golite cloth will keep you warm when it’s cool, cool when it’s warm, and smell free when you really need to be.

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

kodak easyshareYou see a great moment, a moment that you want to save forever with your camera. You point, shoot, and look to the display, only to see a blurry low res image. The moment is gone and the picture just did not do any justice. If this has happened to you, it may be time to upgrade to the Kodak EasyShare V1273. This 12 megapixel HD Camera takes pictures with extreme clarity by using a 3x zoom lens with optical stabilization. Thursday, August 7th, 2008

NYC PassIf you want the best in shopping, dining, sightseeing, learning, entertainment, and well pretty much everything else under the sun, the only place to be is in New York City. Oddly enough, living in the area I can attest to the fact that New York City Sightseeing and exploration is still somewhat hard to do. I don’t always know where to go, or how to get there, or even how much money to bring when I arrive. Yes, NYC has everything, but what does that mean if you don’t know what “everything” is? By using the New York City Attractions Pass, tourists and locals alike will have the perfect opportunity to pinpoint exactly what the city has to offer. The Pass is offered in 1, 2, 3, and 7 day options, and it will allow people to go to places like the Empire State Building, the Guggenheim, the Museum of Modern Art, the Statue of Liberty, Rockefellar Center, Radio City Music Hall, the list really goes on and on and on. NYC Sightseeing may seem like a difficult thing to do, but certainly not with this pass! You will even get a VIP entrance so you wont have to wait in line like everyone else, and discounts on restaurants and stores on good old 5th avenue. Kleen Kanteen Stainless Steel Water Bottles

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

kleen.jpgHave you ever gone on a long strenuous hike, finding strength only from some cool water you have brought along? It’s really a great feeling to know that your thirst will be quenched, until you realize the water tastes like the plastic bottle that it was staying in! In order to have fresh water, I suggest bringing along a set of Kleen Kanteen Stainless Steel Water Bottles. Made of premium stainless steel, these water bottles are toxic free and will never leach into the water like so many other types do. It also means that that along with being super light weight (11 oz. for the 40oz. bottle) the Kleen Kanteens are also highly durable and recyclable if necessary. Always keeping the water in tight, these bottles have a variety of different tops to choose from such as a poly/steel loop cap, steel flat, sippy spout (for children), a sport top version, and many others in order to fit the growing needs of the true backpacker. The Kleen Kanteen Stainless Steel Water Bottles incorporate a wide mouth in order to fit ice cubes, and they can even be put on top of a fire or stove for soup purposes!
