Natural Radius Grip Tools

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

If there is one thing I absolutely hate about gardening, it is the pains I get in my hands and back from using tools for hours on end. The Natural Radius Grip Tools however, use an ergonomic shape and non slip grip for long lasting comfort in the hand. As you can you can see from this radius grip ergonomic cultivator, the handle is appropriately proportioned and contoured in order to feel natural, regardless of how long you are using it. In order to further ensure comfort, the Natural Radius series also uses all light weight metals (aluminum/magnesium alloy) that are highly durable and rust preventative for seasons and seasons of use. This hand cultivator uses a very typical 3 prong shape, however the tines are a bit wider and longer in order to achieve deeper soil penetration. I know it may seem like the end of gardening season, but many out there who have the “green thumb” know that there are many bulbs and flowers available that should be planted in the upcoming fall weather. If you are a true gardener, check out the Natural Radius tool set for a comfortable planting season.

Gus Original Garden Gnome

Monday, August 25th, 2008

Since the French movie Amelie (staring Audrey Tautou) hit theaters a few years back, the utmost kitchy and dorky feautre of your front/back lawn is finally back in style: the oddly shaped Garden Gnome . Yes, I too used to think it was a hideous looking fellow. Especially after gazing into my neighbor’s flawless lawn and seeing the bizarre creature stare back at me! After thinking about how these neighbors have such a flawless lawn (i.e the type of people who care more about their grass than they do of their own appearance), something strange got me to thinking. Perhaps the gnome is a good luck charm when it comes to perfectly hedged shrubs, and ideally green grass. Instantaneously, Gus the Original Garden Gnome won my heart. I quickly did some research, and found that the ancient Chinese had a tradition of keeping garden gnomes/dragon to ward off evil spirits at the gate. So when you think about it, Gus the Original Garden Gnome comes from a lineage of tough fighters. This makes sense considering his extremely durable and bonded marble resin body will not easily fade or break. Just rinse Gus with water every now and then with the hose if he ever gets to dirty, and quickly enjoy his protection!

Gus the Original Garden Gnome may seem quiet, but you can see him pop his head up in a variety of places. Check out:

Father’s Day Shopping For The Father Who Wants Zero

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008

I don’t think my Dad has ever answered this question in his entire life. Normally I get the “I just want to be left alone to relax” routine mixed with the occasional “You know what I really want ….(pause for dramatic results) Nothing” bit. Oh yeah then there is the “It’s O.K I’d rather you save your money”. Overall, these answers are absolutely fine by me. Hey, if you want nothing Dad, you will get NOTHING. Ask and ye shall receive! Not having to go out and shop is much easier on my own R&R schedule not to mention my wallet, so thanks for the get out of jail free card. But lets be real, no Dad wants nothing, and the days of buying unnecessary ties have turned into days of buying unnecessary DVD’s that he will never watch, or books that will at best make it to his bathroom library.

So what do you get for the Father Who Wants 0? If there is one thing I have learned over time is that most men and all Dad’s enjoy a practical, USEFUL gift. Why else would they ask for a day off from the phone ringing, or from Mom complaining about people walking with shoes on the good carpet. Good luck trying to wrap that present (I can see it now, “umm mom can you not only stop nagging but also would you mind wearing this bow on your head?”). I digress, but the fact is Father’s Day is coming around the corner and you need to come up with something good, and fast.

My recommendation is to go with something you know he will need, not necessarily something you think he will want. Take for example a Thule or Yakima car rack and/or rooftop cargo box for easy storage of bikes or camping items. You know what type of Dad you have, so if he is into outdoorsy activities then this is really an ideal solution for you, and him. Maybe your Dad is more handy and needs a new set of Stanley Tools for some home improvements. I don’t know about you, but I don’t know any dad who enjoys saying “Ugh sorry honey, I umm ugh just don’t have the right tools for the job”. This does not make for a feel good situation. O.k so we have got car equipment, tools, maybe some nice Oakley’s will do the trick, or maybe some certified pre owned golf clubs by Callaway will be the gift of choice this Father’s Day. The fact is, there are many options out there that are within your economic reach AND will not wind up just collecting dust somewhere. So the only question left now is, what is your response going to be when your father asks for zero.

Garden Nursery Flowers and Plants

Now is the time to start thinking about how to update the look and feel of your Garden Nursery Flowers and Plants. Your backyard’s “nursery” may be in a bit of trouble right now, and I know that adding some strategically placed flowers and beauty to your garden may seem like an expensive and tedious process. However, adding colorful botanicals is actually a very simple an inexpensive way to add some curb appeal to the front of your home, and a very pleasant, aromatic feel in the backyard garden. Take for example the wonderful Deluxe Perennial Tulips at Brecks.com. These garden perennials come in shades of eye popping yellows, reds, whites, and pinks and by using an online coupon, you will automatically receive 25$ off any order of 50$ or more! Not too bad for cheap and effective way of upgrading your garden nursery! If Brecks vigorous Tulip Perennials is not what you are looking for, there are many other plant options to choose from, at of course a discounted rate. You can stick with planting in the garden with flower bulbs and vegetable seeds (for sweet baby girl tomatoes, fanfare cucumbers, and other garden vegetable plants) or you can try a Hanging Basket Pink Begonia from directgardening.com to give immediate color and freshness to your patio or shed. Again, a very inexpensive (and super fast) way to upgrade the look and feel of your home and garden.
