In a beautiful victory last night, the Philadelphia Phillies are now the National League Champions! Beating out the Dodgers 5-1 (4-1 in the series overall), it was none other than J-Roll who led the game off with a solo shot in right center field on a 3-2 count. Can we say bye-bye Fastball? This was only the first of many hits for the Phill’s, and with the aid of star pitcher Cole Hamels, the team was able to control the game from the very first at bat. Now for the first time in 15 long years, the Philadelphia Phillies get to play in the World Series, and will most likely be playing the Tampa Bay Rays for the coveted World Series Ring. Looks to me like Charlie Manuel has got this team well greased, prepped, and ready to look towards their next and final 7 game series starting this upcoming Wednesday! I am a big fan of the cooler weather because it gives me the opportunity to go out camping without the worry of bugs, heat stroke, or having to hot of a fire. Well its pretty much official that the weather will only be getting colder. For those of you who have been following the careers of Johnny Depp and Time Burton, you should be happy to know that the two are going in on yet another movie together. It really does seem as if these two guys were cut from the same cloth, or that there was some celestial event that made them come together. Ok for those of you who are not keeping up with the MLB Playoff Standings, things are getting pretty interesting in all divisions. In the NLDS, the Philadelphia Phillies are going 2-0 against the Brewers (they play away on Saturday), and the Dodgers are 2 up on the Cubs. In the ALDS, the Boston Red Sox are 1-0 on the Angels (they play tonight at 9:30), and the Rays are holding a 1-0 lead on the White Sox (game 2 tonight at 6:00). In terms of playoff games, the Boston Red Sox have beaten the Angels in 10 straight showdowns, which means the pressure is really on for Anaheim. On the opposite end of the coin (in the NLDS) the Phillies could smother the Brewers and easily coast into NLCS with a World Series Championship in mind. My predictions are that the Phillies will play at beat Dodgers in the NLCS and will face the Red Sox in the big game. MLB Playoffs are always an exciting time to route for your home team, so you had better wear some official MLB for support.

For those of you out there who thought Brett Favre was a wash up, I really hope you got to watch last week’s game against the Cardinals. Was it something in the water, perhaps it was the throwback uniforms? Whichever the case may be, Brett went on to throw 6 T.D passes (happens to be a career high) with 1 pick, to win Jets 56-Cardinals 35. This was the 2nd most points the Jets ever scored in franchise history, as they were able to force 7 (yes 7) Arizona turnovers. Overall Brett Favre went 24/34 for 289 yards, 6 good in the end-zone, and only 1 pick. If this does not tell you to go out and grab a Brett Favre Jets Jersey I don’t know what will. Luckily for the boys in green (though this week more blueish), they are headed into the Bye for a little R&R but will be playing Carson Palmer and the Cincinnati Bengals come week 6. Despite what looked to be a potential rain out/rain delay, the Philadelphia Phillies have yesterday won their first post-season game in 15 years. Unquestionably a left-handed pitching threat, it was actually not even until the 5th when a Brewer was even able to touch first base. To finish the eventual 3-1 victory, ace closer Brad Lidge replaced Hamels, and put the Brewers on ice for the rest of the night. Scoring their only 3 runs during the 3rd, the Phillies stood behind Hamels by putting up a defensive wall (led by Chase Utley), and kept control of game 1 from start to finish. Game 2 of the NLDS against the Brewers is scheduled for today 6pm EST at Citizens Bank Park, where the Phillies plan on making this a 2-0 series. For those of you out there who like going to your jam band concerts, you should be absolutely stoked to hear that there is going to be Phish Reunion Concert Events planned for the 2009 year. Planned for March 6-8 at the Hampton Coliseum (in Hampton, V.A) tickets will be going on sale October 18th, and more dates and locations will be released shortly. This is a great opportunity for any person who has been missing their live performances over the last 4 years, and has been stuck hearing only rumors of a reunion and music off their C.D’s. As a Phish fan myself, I was lucky enough to get a ticket during their farewell tour at a concert event at the Tweeter Center in Camden, NJ, and let me say they are un-believ-able live. Hopefully they tack on many more concerts around the Philly/N.Y area so that maybe I can go again. Just as a side note for people trying to go to V.A for the Phish Reunion concert, be sure to book your hotel early in advance before all the closest spots are taken.

As a person working from home, I don’t get the type of exercise many people naturally get through their day-to-day travels or professional responsibilities.
