Uniflame Outdoor Fireplace

Monday, November 10th, 2008

This is the season for leaves, hot cocoa, and relaxing comfortably by an outdoor fire pit. The Uniflame Outdoor Fireplaces are an excellent way to enjoy the cooler weather, while still feeling nice and toasty by the fire. This 30” Copper and Wrought Iron Fireplace in particular has a great design, and can be enjoyed by people sitting on all sides of it. Unlike chimineas that are enclosed, this firepit will give people on all viewing angles warmth, light, and entertainment throughout the night (or your wood supply). Highly durable against intense heat, weight, and outdoor conditions, the Uniflame fireplace comes with a porcelain grate at the bottom in order to improve the necessary airflow to your fire, and a grate cover to reduce any wild sparks from being released onto the your yard. Luckily for you, this particular Uniflame outdoor fire pit requires no construction or additional hardware! All you need to enjoy the warmth, flame, and possible romantic evening, is a nice supply of dry wood and someone to enjoy it with.

Garmin Nuvi 650 GPS Navigator

Thursday, November 6th, 2008

Some people out there are directionally challenged. Now, I for one have nothing bad to say about these people (as I include myself in that group), but keep in mind this is a very fixable problem. The Garmin Nuvi 650 GPS Navigator is a high quality (low price) GPS system that will turn your orientation skills into pro form. Featuring an easy to read touch screen 3.8” x 2.25” display, the Garmin Nuvi has built in maps, uses voice prompts for directions and street names, 3D map display, the option to avoid traffic patterns, and will last up to 7 hours per charge. The 650 GPS version is a great navigation system because it is not limited to staying inside your vehicle. With features like the coin/currency converter, mp3 capable, Audio book player, and picture viewer, the Garmin also makes for a great travel companion. MWave.com is currently keeping the Garmin Nuvi 650 GPS on sale for the next few days, making it prime time to buy for you, or for a family member.

Peanuts Back to School Lunchbox

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

I have always been a true fan of Charlie Brown and the whole Peanuts gang. Oddly enough, my father’s nickname is Snoopy, so I guess you could say the name has always had some extra meaning to me. To take my love of this character even further, it was also the name I gave to my first guinea pig. What can I say, Charlie Brown and his best four legged friend are one of the coolest couple around. To celebrate them, I like to keep them close with me on a daily basis, with my Peanuts Back to School Lunchbox. This nostalgic cartoon lunchbox comes with a great thermos bottle, and both display a a fun 60’s-70’s style feel. The Peanuts Lunchbox is made out of high quality metal, and makes for a a perfect cartoon collectible! With such lovely cartoon characters as guards, they help keep food fresh while at the same time acts as a great tree saver (i.e no more paper bag lunches!). You know home made food tastes better, saves you money, and tends to be healthier anyway. Become a little kid again, and automatically increase your hip factor just with a few Peanuts!

You can find the Peanuts Back to School Lunchbox on various sites, like:

Kavu Climbers Bag

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

kavuIf you belong to one of those clubs (both women and men included) of people who can never get enough of shoes and bags, then I have another item for your closet fetish. This Kavu Climber Bag is a great mixture of a fun everyday bag, a bag for practical use or for biking around the city, and a bag you can even go climbing with! I have been talking about wanting to catch up on my rock skills for a while now, and could not have found a better bag than this soft and durable natural canvas to rest on my shoulders. The shoulder strap is similar to a messenger bag, but offers a bit more comfort with the padded adjustable strap and padded back. With the color variety of Orange Stripe, Marigold Stripe, Ugly, and Brown Bear you have plenty to choose from. The inside of the Kavu Bag features separate compartments, providing more organization (for you messy people). However, you can throw a lot of your stuff in there with the toggle lock draw cord which adds extra space. When on the road you might need the bag tight on your body and will appreciate the adjustable waist/compression strap. Recently I realized I can even fit my small 12” laptop in there (the bag’s dimensions are 14″x10″x 8″), and my baby is safe due to the padding and strong force 10 canvas material.

GoLite Clothing

Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

goliteFor an ideal base layer or stand alone article of fall season apparel, there is not much better on the market then a piece of GoLite Clothing. Offered in both Men’s and women’s cuts, this particular Golite long sleeve shirt is sold in a multitude of colors and is meant specifically for active performance. Created from The Cocona fabric (polyester which is environmentally safe), the layers of cloth uses activated carbon from discarded coconut shells allowing it to have an SPF rating of +50. Because of its origins, this very special material will keep the user dry, and smell free regardless of how many times the clothing is used. This is thanks to the activated coconut carbon which will never wash out and actually helps to wick away moisture 50% faster than the leading polyester material. Washing instructions are pretty easy for GoLite Clothing. Basically just rinse under water or throw in the dryer in order to remove any type of dirt or sweat residue. Given the Green Gear of the Year Award in 2007, Golite cloth will keep you warm when it’s cool, cool when it’s warm, and smell free when you really need to be.

Kleen Kanteen Stainless Steel Water Bottles

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

kleen.jpgHave you ever gone on a long strenuous hike, finding strength only from some cool water you have brought along? It’s really a great feeling to know that your thirst will be quenched, until you realize the water tastes like the plastic bottle that it was staying in! In order to have fresh water, I suggest bringing along a set of Kleen Kanteen Stainless Steel Water Bottles. Made of premium stainless steel, these water bottles are toxic free and will never leach into the water like so many other types do. It also means that that along with being super light weight (11 oz. for the 40oz. bottle) the Kleen Kanteens are also highly durable and recyclable if necessary. Always keeping the water in tight, these bottles have a variety of different tops to choose from such as a poly/steel loop cap, steel flat, sippy spout (for children), a sport top version, and many others in order to fit the growing needs of the true backpacker. The Kleen Kanteen Stainless Steel Water Bottles incorporate a wide mouth in order to fit ice cubes, and they can even be put on top of a fire or stove for soup purposes!

Ruby Tuesdays

Tuesday, August 5th, 2008

“Out with the old and in with the new” should be Ruby Tuesdays new motto! As of 1 hour, 15 minutes and counting, the chain restaurant Ruby Tuesdays is going to completely revamp their style. The entirely new menu featuring USDA meats which are fresh (and never frozen), clean and healthy vegetables, artisan cheeses, and many more appetizing foods are just the tip of the iceberg as to the changes going on. Ruby Tuesdays believes that an initiative must take place, and that restaurants need to set an example in regards to keeping both people, and the earth healthy. In “going green”, Ruby Tuesdays is going to use menu materials on paper which consists of 10%-30% customer waste, and use environmentally friendly rinse nozzles which will save over 100,000 gallons of water per year! There have also been modifications to urinals for less water waste, a reduction in overall paper, electricity, and energy consumption. Drastic modifications are happening at Ruby Tuesdays both on the inside and out! Check out the new design for an earth friendly, heart friendly way of eating.
